There’s Always Time For Science On Frisco Property

There’s always something memorable going on at the Center. Every second Saturday of the month HAM Radio hits the airways. Between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. amaeteur HAM radio buffs can be hands on. Another favorite monthly get together is the very special Science With A Princess. Princesses have to keep their wits about them and knowledge is power. Workshops include demonstrations and activities. Preschool Storytime was designed for the littlest scientists. A love of reading starts young and tiny tots can learn about words Fridays at 11 a.m.

Science is all around us. At the Sci-Tech Discovery Museum the inquisitive "stretch their minds" and have a great time doing it. Visit Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m.

Folks Living In Plano Take A Trip Back In Time

Get a glimpse into the daily life of pioneers living in Plano. Heritage Farmstead Museum preserves history of the Texas Blackland Prairie region for all to appreciate. A variety of buildings stand true as representations of the times in the late 1800’s.

Children from Plano homes will be curious to see how youth in the past experienced school. Often a reprise from grueling chores youngsters were usually more than willing to go. The One Room North Texas School House shines a light on school days gone by. The building also served as a church on Sunday and a meeting hall for social gatherings.

Victorian Era Artifacts Memorialize Plano Property

Meet in the Farrell-Wilson House and let imagination take you back. A collection of thousands of artifacts illustrate the Victorian Era. All pieces presented belonged to the Farrell-Wilsons or other prominent families living in Plano. A favorite item to see is a telephone from the American Bell Telephone Company. Farrell-Wilson House Outbuildings highlight the tools of the trade. In the Curing Shed meats were preserved to ensure plenty of food in winter. Visitors will find equipment used daily in the Blacksmith Shed. Plants were prepared for growth in the garden in the Potting Shed.  In the Carriage Garage a 1908 Surrey rests proudly protected from the elements.

Docent led tours take patrons around the property imparting interesting trivia about the inhabitants. Groups of more than six people are asked to make a reservation in advance by calling 972.881.0140. Hours are available online.

Neighbors From Allen Homes Gather Together

Neighbors and friends from Allen homes gather together at Allen Station Park. A true area treasure, the landscape is filled with recreational opportunities. Traditional fields welcome team sports such as baseball and softball. Playgrounds are filled with young Texans having fun sliding, climbing, and swinging.
